Tarangire Simba Lodge

Tarangire Simba Lodge opened in July 2015 with eight classic tents under thatch, and eight more anticipated being ready by early 2016. Resident wildlife includes lion, zebra, bushbuck, impala, porcupine, monkeys, warthog, mongoose and more. Elephant, buffalo, ostrich and giraffe frequently pass through while the birdlife is prolific and vibrant.

OVERVIEW:

Located near the fully functional Sangaiwe Gate to Tarangire National Park, the lodge grounds border the park and a Wildlife Management Area. Accommodation is in spacious classic canvas safari tents constructed on platforms with wooden floors. Tents are en-suite with an attached dressing room, toilet and shower. Additionally, there is an outdoor shower, and each tent has a private veranda with views to the bush. The entire structure is under a permanent roof topped with thatch. Furnishings are handcrafted from African hardwood complimented with tastefully selected fabrics. Both twin and queen tents are available; electricity and hot water are solar-powered.

THE LODGE/CAMP:

Facilities include a dedicated reception area and separate lounge and dining room—all constructed out of canvas on raised platforms—created with relaxation and enjoyment in mind. Common areas are connected with wooden walkways, and there is a deck for outdoor dining adjacent to the dining tent. Wi-Fi is available in common areas. In addition to a large swimming pool, a ‘tree-top’ viewing platform is built in a stately acacia tree to facilitate wildlife watching and star gazing.

ROOMS:

Accommodation at Tarangire Simba Lodge is in sixteen classic canvas safari tents situated permanently under thatch. The spacious tents are constructed on platforms complete with wooden floors, large en-suite dressing room, toilet and shower. There are twin and queen tents; triples are possible. There is also a family tent with two queen-sized beds. Additionally, there is an outdoor shower, and each tent has a private veranda with views to the bush and Lake Burunge(limited view). Furnishings are handcrafted from African hardwood complimented with tastefully selected fabrics; electricity and hot water are solar-powered.

QUICK INSIGHTS:

  • If you’re lucky you may see wildlife right from your room or verandah!, as it is located in Wildlife Management Area bordering Tarangire NP (just outside the full operation Sangaiwe gate of Tarangire).


  • Additionally, there is an outdoor shower.


  • Due to the solar electrical system, it’s not possible to use a hairdryer at Tarangire Simba. We kindly request that you don’t attempt to plug in a hairdryer as in all likelihood it will blow the system resulting in loss of power to the entire lodge.
