Mara Under Canvas Tented Camp
> North Serengeti
Mara Under Canvas is the closest camp to the river Mara where each year, enormous columns of wildebeest cross the river, negotiating the jaws of the hungry crocodiles to get to the pastures on the other side in what could be considered the climax of the Great Migration. This luxury temporary camp is open from June to November. It allows visitors to be in the proximity of the Great Migration and to be able to explore remote areas and the beautiful settings of Serengeti with a large amount of resident fauna. The camp has only ten double tents and a family tent that assures this intense experience's intimacy and exclusivity.
OVERVIEW:
A new addition to Tanganyika Wilderness Camp’s portfolio, the ten-room property occupies a prime location for travellers keen to focus on the sight of the Great Migration crossing the Mara River. The eco-friendly rooms are spacious, with king-sized beds and generous en-suite facilities, including a bucket shower and a flush toilet. The camp has a separate lounge tent and dining tent where guests can relax during rest periods between game drives.

THE LODGE/CAMP:
A large central tent forms a simple communal area for the camp. Its style can be described as eclectic comfort and fuss-free simplicity. The dining setup is rather elegant, complete with the romantic glow of hurricane lamps to light the faces of your fellow adventurers. If the weather plays ball, the table is set up outside under the stars. The lounge is rustic but comfortable, with views of the unspoilt surroundings. Evenings are best spent socialising around the campfire while listening to the background symphony of the invisible locals.
ROOMS:
With only ten en-suite tents, privacy and exclusivity are a given. Mara offers all the necessities and luxuries of a mobile tented camp and manages to strike a unique balance of feeling homely yet wild. The tents are dispersed well to ensure uninterrupted views. The interiors are very spacious with king-size or twin beds that are positioned to look out at the splendid views. This means you can sip your morning tea or coffee from the comfort of your cosy bed as you survey your kingdom and dream of another day in sunny Africa.
QUICK INSIGHTS:
One of the best option for getting closer to River crossing in the Northern Mara Region.
