Karen Blixen Camp
Karen Blixen Camp is an eco-friendly luxury camp that gives a sense of the exciting explorer days when the savannah was seldom visited, and elaborate and comfortable camps were set up, providing a luxurious and stylish retreat after each day’s adventure.
Karen Blixen Camp comprises large luxury canvas tents with privacy and an undisturbed view along the Mara River. The stylish restaurant, the reception, the lounge and bar and the gift shop with internet are set on a raised wooden deck and furnished with accurate reproductions of Karen Blixen’s private furniture to fit in with the cozy atmosphere.

Available in Main Area
The 22 canvas tents are raised from the ground, and each has a spacious deck overlooking the river, a large en suite bathroom and an outdoor shower. While there are more tents here than in other camps, it retains a peaceful atmosphere and feels private.
The spacious bathrooms, divided from the bedroom area by a tent flap, feature a wooden washstand with double steel washbasins, wooden storage shelves and towel rails, and a conventional flush toilet. Through a flap at the back of the tent, beyond the main bathroom area, is the outdoor shower and bathtub, fully screened for privacy but completely open to the sky. Toiletries are provided in refillable glass flasks.
They are located on the bank of the Mara River, which is spectacular.
Throughout the day, elephants, giraffes, zebras and impalas come for a drink while a large hippo pod rests lazily in the river.
The Camp gives a feeling of the early 1920’s era with beautiful and comfortable furniture.
